StartCompany.ie offers an affordable Irish company formation route from €240. The important question is not whether the headline price is low. It is whether the package contains the CRO filing and company documents your particular LTD needs, and whether any additional requirement has been identified before you order.

This guide explains our lowest-cost formation service using the current package scope. It is written about StartCompany.ie only. It does not compare or make claims about another provider, and it does not suggest that every founder should choose the cheapest route.

The short answer

Basic costs €240 and includes the company name check, CRO fee, Certificate of Incorporation, constitution and share certificates. It is designed for a straightforward LTD where the registered office, secretary, director residence and PPSN or IPN position are already settled.

Current Basic Package Inclusions

The package is currently listed at €240. Its published features are:

  • Free company name check
  • Certificate of Incorporation
  • Memorandum & Articles of Association (Constitution)
  • Share Certificates
  • CRO Fees included
  • Free Consultation
  • Free basic Tax advice
  • Support available 7 days a week
  • No hidden costs

This is all you need to set up a company in Ireland. PPSN or IPN required.

When Low-Cost Company Formation Is Enough

A lower-cost package can be the right choice when the company has a simple ownership structure, an acceptable Irish registered office, a valid company secretary arrangement and no unresolved non-resident director issue. Paying for services that the company does not need would not improve the incorporation.

Basic formation is therefore a fit question, not only a price question. The company still needs accurate officers, shareholders, shares, principal activity and identity details. CRO approval remains subject to the application and proposed name being in order.

  • The proposed LTD structure is straightforward.
  • At least one director is EEA-resident, or another valid statutory route is already arranged.
  • The company has a physical registered office address in Ireland.
  • A separate secretary is available if the LTD has one director.
  • Each director has the PPSN or CRO identity route needed for filing.

What the Basic Price Does Not Automatically Cover

The Basic package is deliberately narrow. It does not list an Irish registered office address, IPN support, RBO registration or first annual return filing. Those items are not required in the same way for every customer, so they are included in other packages or available through separate services.

It also does not guarantee a bank account, Revenue registration, VAT approval, a company name or a particular CRO processing date. Incorporation, tax registration and bank onboarding are separate decisions made by the relevant authority or provider.

The Official CRO Fee and the Service Price

The CRO currently lists the electronic Form A1 fee for a new company as EUR50. StartCompany.ie includes that filing fee in its formation packages. The remainder of the package price covers the preparation, review, filing support and company documents described in the package scope.

Comparing a professional formation price with the CRO fee alone misses the work around the filing. A founder should compare the complete written scope, including the constitution, share certificates, identity needs and support after a CRO query.

When Standard or Premium Is Better Value

Standard at €490 adds IPN support where a director has no Irish PPSN and includes the first annual return. Premium at €798 adds a registered office address, RBO registration and broader first-year company-secretarial support.

Choosing a larger package is sensible only when those inclusions match real needs. The pricing page is the authoritative source for the current package description before checkout.

How to Keep Formation Costs Predictable

Before ordering, write down the directors' countries of residence, whether each director has a PPSN, the Irish registered office, the secretary and the ownership structure. Those five points identify most of the reasons a basic formation later needs extra work.

Also plan the first five to six months. Most new Irish companies need an RBO filing within five months, and the first annual return date is six months after incorporation. A low formation cost remains good value only when those next duties are budgeted and completed on time.

Yes. The Basic package states that CRO fees are included. The CRO currently lists EUR50 as the electronic A1 new-company filing fee.
