How to Change Your Company Name

A company name change requires a special resolution of the shareholders (75% majority) and filing with the CRO. The new name must be available and not too similar to an existing registered company name.

The Process

  • We check the availability of your proposed new company name with the CRO
  • A special resolution is drafted for the shareholders to approve the name change
  • The shareholders pass the special resolution (75% majority required)
  • We file Form G1 and the special resolution with the CRO
  • The CRO issues a new Certificate of Incorporation reflecting the new name

After the Name Change

Once the name change is registered, you will need to:

  • Update your company's letterhead, website, and marketing materials
  • Notify your bank, Revenue Commissioners, and other relevant parties
  • Update any business name registrations if applicable
  • Order a new company seal if you use one

Timeline

The CRO typically processes a company name change within 10-15 working days from filing. We will provide you with the new Certificate of Incorporation once issued.
