An Irish company's registered office, company secretary and statutory records serve different purposes. StartCompany.ie offers registered office and secretarial services, and the Premium formation package bundles several of those first-year needs with incorporation.

This guide explains the current package scope without suggesting that an address service creates a trading presence, tax substance or a substitute director.

Premium package position

Premium at €798 includes a registered office address listed as worth EUR300, officer documents, first board minutes and defined first-year director, share and company-name changes.

What a Registered Office Is

Every Irish company must maintain a registered office in the State. It is the address used for CRO correspondence and formal legal notices. The address must be a physical location, not merely a post office box.

Using a professional registered office can protect a founder's home address from being used for this statutory purpose and can provide consistent handling of official mail. It does not automatically provide workspace or ordinary business mail services.

Registered Office in the Premium Package

The current Premium feature list includes a registered office address worth EUR300. Basic and Standard do not list an address, and the current Non-Resident package list does not state that one is included.

Before ordering, confirm the service term, permitted use, mail handling and renewal arrangements. The company must keep the CRO informed if the registered office later changes.

Company Secretary Is a Separate Role

Every Irish company must have a secretary. An LTD can have one director, but that sole director cannot also be secretary. The secretary has administrative responsibilities around records, notices and filings.

A registered office service does not itself appoint a secretary. Check the package or separate company-secretary service if the company needs a person or eligible body corporate to fill that role.

First-Year Company Changes

Premium includes four director changes, four share allotments, four share transfers and one company-name change in the first year. The Non-Resident package lists the same numerical allowances.

These services concern the company paperwork. A proposed change may still require board or member approval, updated registers, tax review, stamp-duty work, contracts or professional advice.

Directors Keep Ultimate Responsibility

Using StartCompany.ie for an address or filing does not transfer the directors' statutory responsibilities. Directors must ensure that company information is true, records are maintained and filings are made on time.

The best arrangement gives the provider clear instructions and gives directors a reliable process for reviewing correspondence and approving filings.
