What you need to register a limited company in Ireland

To register an Irish private company limited by shares (LTD), the CRO requires:

    • A company name that is unique and not too similar to existing CRO entries
    • At least one director — at least one director must be EEA-resident, or you must hold a Section 137 non-resident bond
    • A company secretary — separate from the sole director (or use our nominee secretary service)
    • A registered office address in Ireland (we provide one if needed)
    • Shareholders with allocated shares
    • A constitution (Memorandum & Articles of Association — included in every package)

How long does it take to register a company in Ireland?

Standard CRO processing takes 3 to 5 working days from the date your incorporation is filed. Once we receive your completed details, we typically file the same day. You will receive a Companies Registration Office number, your Certificate of Incorporation, and your stamped constitution by email.

How much does it cost to register a company in Ireland?

Our company registration packages start at €240 for the Basic package, which includes the CRO filing fee. The Standard package (€440) is our most popular and adds an IPN number and first annual return. Non-residents who require a Section 137 bond should choose the Non-Resident package at €2,499, which includes the bond premium.

Can a non-resident register a company in Ireland?

Yes. Non-residents can fully own and direct an Irish company. If no director is EEA-resident, the company must hold a Section 137 non-resident bond for two years. Learn more on our non-resident company formation page.

    Frequently asked questions

How quickly can I register a company in Ireland?

    +

Most companies are incorporated within 3-5 working days of filing with the CRO. Same-day filing is included once we receive your completed details.

Do I need to live in Ireland to register a company?

    +

No. Non-residents can own and direct Irish companies. If no director is EEA-resident, a Section 137 non-resident bond is required for two years.

What is the cheapest way to register a company in Ireland?

    +

Our Basic package at €240 is the most affordable option and includes all CRO filing fees, the constitution, and your Certificate of Incorporation.

Do I need a PPS number to be a director?

    +

Directors without a PPSN need an IPN (Identified Person Number) — included in our Standard package and above.

What is included in the CRO filing fee?

    +

The CRO charges €50 for online incorporation. This is included in every package — there are no hidden government fees.

Can you help with corporation tax and VAT registration?

    +

Yes — we offer full tax registration for Corporation Tax, VAT, PAYE and RCT. See our tax registration service for pricing.

What's the difference between an LTD, DAC and CLG?

    +

LTD is the most common — limited by shares, flexible. DAC has a defined object clause, often for regulated activities. CLG is limited by guarantee, used for non-profits.

Will my company be VAT registered automatically?

    +

No — VAT registration is separate. We can handle it as part of your formation if you expect to exceed the €40,000 (services) or €80,000 (goods) thresholds.
